This action-packed, pirate-themed experience combines splash-filled fun, exciting water battles, a FREE, ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT RIVERSIDE BBQ LUNCH, and beginner-friendly Class I & II whitewater rapids — perfect for families, kids, and groups visiting the Pocono Mountains  in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.

Captain Jack and his lively crew of Pocono Pirates will “invade” your journey armed with water cannons, ready for friendly river battles as you navigate your own raft downstream. It’s an unforgettable mix of adventure and laughter that makes this one of the most unique kid-friendly whitewater rafting trips near Jim Thorpe, PA.

Your 8-mile rafting trip lasts approximately 3–4 hours and winds through scenic stretches of the Lehigh River. You and your crew will paddle your own raft while our experienced guides travel alongside in kayaks to assist and enhance the experience. The custom-designed pirate ship (our famous pirate raft!) joins along the way, bringing interactive fun for families who want to participate in the optional water cannon showdowns.

Midway Riverside Barbecue Picnic Included

Halfway through your trip, you’ll stop at our private riverside picnic grove to enjoy a FREE All-You-Can-Eat Barbecue Lunch included with your Family-Style Whitewater Rafting Adventure.  Our staff prepares and serves a classic family picnic featuring hot dogs, macaroni or potato salad, chips, fruit, lemonade, and water.

Our picnic area includes plenty of seating and portable restroom facilities, giving your group a comfortable place to relax, recharge, and share stories before heading back on the river for the second half of your adventure.

RAFTING TRIP NOTES

  • The Pocono Pirate trip is on our Family Style Whitewater section of the river.
  • Most of our rafts accommodate 4 to 7 people.  If you have less than 4 people in your group, there is a possibility you will be teamed up with other whitewater rafting guests.
  • You will stop for lunch.  A free all-you-can-eat riverside barbecue lunch is provided from Memorial Day through Labor Day and weekends in May, September and October.
  • On days when our free riverside BBQ is not available, sub lunches can be purchased from our Broken Paddle Bar and Grill upon your arrival.
  • Vegetarian lunch options are available. Please call for details.
  • If you forget something you can pick it up in our rafting retail shop.
  • Wear shoes that will not fall off your feet. Bare feet, flip flops, slides, or slippers are NOT permitted.
  • Your photo is taken on the river and available for purchase in our store at the end of your day or online at PoconoWhitewaterPhotos.com.

NEED PIRATE GEAR?

No need to get your waistcoat in a bunch — we’ve got you covered! Take your Pocono Pirate Rafting adventure to the next level with our Pirate Package Add-On. Ideal for kids ages 4–10 and for anyone who refuses to grow up (we fully support that decision).

Stop by the “Pirate Cove” inside our rafting souvenir shop before your trip to gear up like a true Pocono Pirate. Each pirate add-on package is $18.87 and includes:

  • Water cannon for epic pirate river battles
  • Jolly Roger headband — because you’re part of the pirate crew, too!
  • Inflatable swashbuckling sword to help defend your raft
  • Spy telescope to spot pirates approaching downriver
  • Drawstring buccaneer backpack to carry extra treasures

CREDIT CARD VERIFICATION

  • For your security, please bring the credit card used for payment when you check in for your trip. If the cardholder will not be present, please contact us in advance so we can arrange an alternative verification method.
  • Please note that Pocono Whitewater does not accept reservations or payments made through third-party booking sites. All reservations must be made directly with us or through our approved lodging partners.
